How to Plan an Office Christmas Party

Business Advice | 14 December 2022 | 1 year ago

If you are wondering how to plan a christmas party for the office, you have come to the right place. Below, we have taken a look at some of the key things that you should do to ensure your office Christmas party is a success.

Planning an Office Christmas Party

A lot of people make the mistake of assuming that an office Christmas party is only good for letting off steam and socialising, but there is actually more to it than that. Office Christmas parties can be fantastic for employee morale, and they can benefit the business as a whole. Not only do employees feel positive and valued when a party is thrown for them, but it provides a good opportunity for your team to bond.

Plan as Soon as You Can

The earlier you start to plan an office Christmas party, the better. Start planning as soon as you can to ensure that the venue and all your staff are available. Otherwise, you run the risk of everyone already having other plans, or having to settle for a venue that isn’t quite what you were hoping for.

Budget

It’s very easy to get caught up in the excitement of party planning, only to later realise that you have overspent. From the moment you begin planning an office party, do everything with your budget in mind.

Consider Personalities

Before you pick the type of Christmas party you want to throw, consider the personalities of people in your office and think about the type of event that they will enjoy the most. For example, if you have a team of introverts, karaoke is unlikely to excite them.

Find a Date

It’s important to find a date that everyone can do, so ask around to see if anyone has any other prior commitments. For example, if there is a birthday party already organised for that day and a lot of employees are attending, you might struggle to get a good turnout.

Create an Itinerary

You don’t want gaps in between venues and activities, so create a plan that keeps people busy and organised. You should avoid having times of the night where employees don’t know where to go, and you don’t want to waste time trying to find a bar that can hold your whole office.

Remind Everyone

In the lead up to your office Christmas party, send out regular reminders. You could send a mass email, or add the event to everyone’s work calendars. This will reduce the chances of someone forgetting or making other plans.

Consider Food and Drink

A good office Christmas party should have an adequate amount of food and drink. You also need to think about individual dietary requirements, and there should be something for everyone to enjoy.
