What Is An SA302
An SA302 calculation is an official HMRC document that can confirm an individual’s income for the last four tax years running from 6th April to 5th April the following year. The document sets out any income that has been declared as received outside of PAYE employment in any given tax year. It also shows the corresponding tax payments owed as a result. The SA302 is also referred to as a ‘Tax Calculation’ and is issued for every tax year that you submit a self-assessment. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is the UK government department responsible for the collection of taxes.
When Do You Need An SA302?
The SA302 document is commonly requested by lenders when individuals apply for a mortgage or a business loan as the lender will need to see proof of earnings to assess suitability for the loan requested. This means that applicants will be asked to provide proof of earnings via an SA302 calculation if they are self-employed, a company director or have to submit a self-assessment tax return to declare any other non PAYE income such as interest on savings, foreign investments, UK property, pensions and benefits, dividends or shares owned.
