Is Email Marketing Still Important in 2023

There is no denying that email marketing has long been a part of digital marketing, but is it still as important as it once was? There are a lot of changes happening in the world of digital marketing, and many businesses are wondering if email marketing is still worthwhile in 2023.

What is Email Marketing?

Email marketing involves sending customers a professionally designed email, as a way to market a product or service. It can also be used to share a discount, to advertise a sale or to remind them of your business as a whole. As email marketing largely uses existing customers’ contact details, or the details of those who have previously shown an interest in your business, there is a high chance that those contacted will be interested in what you have to say. From a marketing email, you can direct customers to your website, in the hope of converting them into a sale.

What is the Current State of Email Marketing?

There are a lot of reasons to include email marketing as part of your digital marketing strategy, but there are also some downsides. As spam filters are continually getting better, it’s becoming increasingly most difficult to ensure that your marketing emails reach inboxes. Though it’s by no means an impossible task, it’s not as simple as it once was. Apple’s mail privacy and other similar measures are also making it harder to determine open rates, which means that it’s harder to accurately know how many people have actually seen the email. Plus, some people simply find email marketing inherently irritating, and this is understandable to some extent.

Of course, it’s not all doom and gloom with email marketing, and there are a lot of advantages. For example, email marketing is low cost, and so it’s unlikely to take up too much of your marketing budget. It’s also easily personalisable, so standing out and making a statement is always an option. Email marketing also has the advantage of being trackable, and it’s easy to see which leads and sales have converted from an email marketing campaign. Using this information, you can make any necessary changes to ensure that your emails are converting as well as possible.

Is Email Marketing Worth It?

Given the low cost nature of email marketing and the clear ROI, it deserves to be part of your digital marketing mix. Though email marketing is unlikely to be enough on its own, it’s a worthwhile addition to your other digital marketing efforts.
